Hi Guys
I can see there have been a few downloads of the base tracks so if anyone is preparing auditions please would you let me know as I am preparing the assault on this project

Hi, I downloaded to atttempt a bass audition...

I loaded the drums and guitar guide track into my sequencer...tuned my bass to A 440 and then realized that the guide track is not in the same tuning. It is somewhere between G and Ab.

We will need to calibrate our tuning.

Also, what is the bpm for the project?

It is best if the guide track has vocals too.

The song appears to be in the key of G or Ab...the A 440 is a tuning reference to standard concert pitch

I adjusted my tuning to A 430. Played in the key of Ab. Its close but does not sound exactly in tune.

file is bass_guit_drums.wma

uploaded a midi file and a render of a similar version of the song. Did it in Band in a Box. Could use it as a template although it varies slightly from the original.

Hi Kenny
Sorry about the slow response but I have been having conection problems over the last few days....should all be fixed now it was a duff bluetooth dongle LOL
Thanks for looking at this song for and the band in a box gizzmo sounds a great way of getting demo's up and running.
This is a very old song and the original demo was recorded to a drum machine but onto an 8 Track reel to reel.I think the pitch must have been lifted slightly as well which is going to make this a bugger. However it has always been my intension to completely re-record all parts so we could revert to standard tuning and just use the original for ref only.
Although I appreciate Scotsmans work on the drums I think the best bet is for me to start afresh at standard tuning and at a fixed BPM.To that end I am going to start by posting a new drum/ryth guitar/vocal track early next week and you would be welcome to work on that with me.
I like the runs you put the end of the song I think they would suit the track well.
I am also going to try uping the tempo a bit to give it a bit of kick.
Hope you stick with it Kenny and thanks.

Hey Scotsman
Glad you like the track,I felt it was worth revamping.I recorded all parts about ten years ago.
There hasn't been much interest but I think most projects are put up with a fixed bpm ref to make it easier for folks to get involved.
I'm from a live jamming background but it's all a learning experience so I will make a new start and see what occurs.
cheers Ian

OK Guys
I have just posted various versions of the track now running at 181BPM.I'm sorry Scotty but I redid the drums,It was the easiest way to warp the rest of the files back to 181bpm.
I am open to any auditions on this so if if there isnt a mix to suit then please let me know and I'll post one.I just think it would be great to hear other influences and swap idea's.
Just have fun with it.

Kenny
You may find the tuning is still a little off but I intend to re record all parts so just stick to standard and all will come good

Ian-

Please note that your status update page for this project is not on this same page, and uses YOUR same password to access and update that.

Cheers...

Thanks Fred

I had considered auditioning some keys or horns for this one. Did you ever get the tuning sorted out? I notice this went quiet with no apparent movement after Ken's comments, and uploads. He never auditioned a bass track for this?

Man, what a tongue twister on the vox there Ian... A few beers and this would not be possible to sing.... hehehe maybe even sober....

Quite slick on the vox there I must say.

Hi Fred
Thanks for the vocal comment LOL I would still rather hear another singer
Since Kennys post I have locked it into 181BPM and stripped it back for a fresh start.
I'm not sure how far the tuning is out but I will be replacing all parts so the next step for me is to work on the ryth guitar and bass unless anyone wants to have a shot.As long as all parts are to standard tuning all will work out fine.
With regards to the horns I kinda hear a Dexys Midnight Runners type of sound in the Chorus but I'd like to hear any interpretation.
Cheers Ian

No need to remove the file download and stream from the status update Ian. You uploaded a file called Latest_Mix.mp3, so it would have linked to it automatically. You can add your comments, but that part can be left in tact and it'll work. You update the file by replacing that file called Latest_Mix.mp3 with a newer file and the links will continue to work with the new file.

I'll put the links back in place. Anytime you see that stream icon it should be left alone,
