I'm looking for a drummer and a bass player on this one. It was recorded at 80 bpm.

Keeper said...

I'll delete the rest and use this one PN.

Hi Parry

If you have a vocal line for this could you upload it (even if rough)as would give the song better shape to work the drums round. If you dont have the song yet please upload a doc giving verse, chorus, instr breakdown for the track as you see it.
Cheers

Ian

Hi Ian-

I've done a handful of projects with Parry, and usually he starts with guitar only and then I put drums to it, and after that the rest comes.

While this can be tricky, it can also allow you to shape the song, and have them follow you rather than you following them. The bass can follow the drummer just as easy as the drummer follow the bass if you think about it. Of course it all depends on what you are used to. On some tracks I put my drums down after the bass which makes it easier on the drummer, but I've been able to draw from the guitar too, and let the bass follow me for a change. Just thinking out loud.

Thats fine Fred I was really just trying to establish whether Parry has any expectations or direction to take this in before spending time on it.I like being in at the start but if there are other parts in existence then it would be better to know.
Cheers

Hi PN

Here's a quick bass idea. I've kept it simple. I've also split your guitar track and panned left and right ....this leaves space in the middle for vocals (important to hand space over for vocals).
Thanks!

Billy.

Hey Billy, I'm thrilled that you're interested in this project. Great playing, I really like what I heard.

I'm going to work on a better guitar sound. Ill have it online tonight.

dirty guitar take 2.mp3 and clean guitar take 2.mp3 have been uploaded to the file manager.

These tracks sound more clean and solid to me.

Billy, can you remix with your bass track? I'm hoping that it melts together nicely.

Hi Parry,
Basically I've done the same thing as before but just with your new tracks. won't upload the bass sep yet just in case you decide to change or add something.
I guess now would be a good time to get down some sort of rough guide vocal? This will help your drummer determine how hard to play, accents etc. It's a simple musical idea so the vocal needs to really carry this song. No pressure then?...lol!!
Good luck!
Billy.

Hey team

I've uploaded a new track called ruff vocals for verse.mp3

This is the melody for both verses and lyrics for the first verse. I'm currently working on the rest of the song.

Stonehead said...

Hey Parry
Please look on the drum track as a work in progress as I would expect to change it several times as it is in before the vocals.
Sorry Billy but if Parry likes the track I have already screwed the bass line up.
Have left the mid verse open as you wanted Parry, the toms can be dropped......or more stuff added LOL
Hope you like it.

Hey Ian,

I'm really digging this track, I think the song is headed in a great direction. I haven't heard this with the bass. Any thoughts Billy?

hopeless verse.mp3 has been uploaded. This contains drums, guitar, and vocals for the intro/1st verse.

Stonehead said...

Glad you like the drums Parry I can put a few more fills and links in when the song develops but I didn't want to dominate it at this stage.

Ok, Do you want me to track to the new bed track? If so, give me a few days and I'll do it.

Billy.

Sounds good Billy. Lets work from the latest bed track.

Hi Parry,
Here's my latest idea regarding bass. I've re-tracked to the new drum track and added a synth at the clean guitar part just for colour. If you don't like it just dis-regard it.
If you like the bass I will upload the ape sep.
Thanks!

Billy.

The bass sounds great Billy. I am also a big fan of the synth.

How do you feel about the song so far Stonehead?

Stonehead said...

Sounding very strong guys....I like the synth too....Whats your next step Parry?

Stonehead said...

Hey Guys

I have just had a play with Parry's guitar sounds and uploaded a guitar/drum mix. I cant do more as there are no seps for vocal and bass.
Anyway see what you think Parry...I could do more with clean guitar as with " A Picture " and I'm quite happy to mix and master if needed.
Cheers Ian

The Funge said...

Hi Guys! Here are the seps of bass and synth.

Hey Billy
Thanks for putting the monkey files up LOL .....first time I used the dBpoweramp....cool bit of kit.
I have had a play around and am about to post a rough mix just to nudge inspiration along.
I think this is getting a really nice groove to it.
Parry, I hope you are sorting your recording probs without too much grief....computers are great when they work.

Anonymous said...

Great mix today Ian.

Presonus thinks that I might not have enough power in my current machine. I might have to go back to my old mixer for recording, which is okay, but I won't be able to record guitar until I get my amp which is being shipped to me from the states... it will arrive next week and I can just mic it instead of plugging in direct and getting a terrible result.

Anonymous said...

A few days have passed and I haven't heard back from Presonus with regards to my latency issue. I'm going to return this unit today....

I'll be working on the vocals in the next few days.
