Cool, the 4Shared site embedded here seems to work well. One could direct a whole project just from this forum and the 4Shared folders.

Hey Fred- thought you might be interested in doing drums on this one. Maybe even with the midi kit. I know you have many other projects, so let me know if I should keep looking for another drummer or develop my drum programming.

I do have several ahead of this one, but if you are patient I will do a drum audition. I want to work on Antonio's "Doomsday" next, and Tony, and Jerry have projects I'm working on as well, as several of my own. But indeed I will eventually do this. If you have a drumless mix up there I can send out mass invites for drum auditions. I suggest you have Perry really work on his vocal before doing this though. It REALLY needs a lot of help! Sorry that's my opinion. To the point that I think it hurts your chances of auditions.

Yes I'll put it on my list.

kenny_b said...

Yea, we have discussed the pitch issues on the vocal. I thought the verse was a bit wordy too.

I can try to help out on 'Doomsday' or any other project to speed them along.

Let me know if you need any chord charts or bass, guitar, or keys parts

Ken-

The people I was planning on helping with their projects before yours are not real active so I guess I could get started on this one. I could use your drumless mix if I had to but PN's vocals on this reall stick in my craw. Any chance of getting a voxless mix to work against?

Thanks...

Hi Fred

Here is the 'no drums no vocal' version:

Ken just so ya know.....

The link you posted worked. It was not clickable, but I copied and pasted it in with no problem, and downloaded your flac file.

Just wanted to let you know (and anyone else reading this), that if you use the option in the white box at the top of the page, just under the main menu, where it says "Post A File To This Project", it will guide you and show you how to make your links clickable in these messages.. Using that option in that box guides ya. Moose calls if "following the breadcrumbs". That whit box shows 3 times on every page, so it's all over the place in front of you to use that option. Has help that show you step by step if you use that..

But what you did is just fine. The links are not clickasble in the message like that, but it's easy enough to copy/paste it into the browser and go to the url...

FYI.

The tempo listed on this project is 116. That doesn't seem to match up with the flac you uploaded. Did you change it?

kenny_b said...

Tempo is 76 BPM. Not sure where the 116 came from. Must have gotten confused with something else.

The Admin said...

Ok we've corrected the tempo on the project page. Here's where WE go the 116.

No biggie. Slow but sure...

The Admin said...

Just so you know.....

We noticed the title of this project has the word "The" in it, and we didn't have that in there. It has been corrected (on all related links, including on the QUICKSTART page).

kenny_b said...

OK I must have confused the tempo with another project at the time.

I noticed this forum uses straight HTML and not FORUM code. No problem, I didn't seem to be able to edit the link, but figured you would see it in the 4shared folder. One of the best features here IMO having the forum and 4shared folder on the same page.

So do you think you will take a crack at the midi drums on this one?

Keeper said...

If I knew the forums would not be shutting off their e-mail service I would be using it. Absolutely none of the services we use cost us anything. The free forums are not dependable for e-mail service when the load gets big, and we'd end up starting over again once they cut off the e-mail service, as has happened...

Really there is a lot about this setup that is good. All one one page, unlimited e-mail service, batch uploads, are a few...

All it really took for these new members to get used to this system is to listen to my instructions.

The most active people here have it down now and don't have ANY problems.

Now that I know the right BPM, and have a mix without PN's vocals in it, I am nearly ready to send you roughed out mix.

If the audio drum track is not sufficient for you, I could probably do something similar and have a midi version of it available yes.

I'll probably have a roughed out mix for you within the hour here...

Keeper said...

Ok here is a roughed out audition. I will no doubt want to refine a few things. Also I tweaked your "no drums" mix, so it's tighter in my project than it would be in yours, unless you tweaked your parts like I did.

Added a few more rolls and refined the accents a bit....

Sheesh--

Just realized part of my work was not saved. I put it back in and saved it.

Hi. Just listened. Drums sound phat! I think the kick pattern suits the song well.

Some of the fills may be a bit too much or used too often. That is just my opinion, not trying to take away from your creativity. For example there was a long fill before the first chorus at 1:00, then there was another long fill at 1:10 and yet another at the end of the chorus at 1:20. Maybe a long fill would work a couple times in the song and the other fills should be more subtle.

I should re-do the bass track, I've got some new strings and set-up on this bass.

Keeper said...

I'll post the separate and you can edit it to your liking...

kenny_b said...

OK. How did you tighten up the backing track without the separates? I noticed the bass was off a bit here and there.

Keeper said...

I used Acid Pro.

kenny_b said...

Cool. I have ACID Music Studio now.

Keeper said...

As suggested I removed 3 of the longer rolls. Instead kept the beat there with the accents:

kenny_b said...

Cool. Thank You! I think the drums sound great! Did you use the midi kit, or loops, or samples?

I am going to re-do the bass to make it tighter and better tone.

Have to get Parry going on the vocals. I might even try the vocal on this one.
